Chalk:Imperial Chalk

In the 1950s, a chalkboard was a common accessory in a child's playroom or bedroom. Creative parents used chalkboards for simple lessons, and children could draw whatever they liked. Chalkboards are reusable after a simple erase. So it was logical, at this time, that chalk was sold as a toy for children. Of course it wore down with repeated use. A small box of chalk proved a sensible holiday stocking stuffer for responsible parents during the 1950s.
