Pair of black glacé kid leather 'chameleon' slippers, about 1850. Each shoe has machine embroidery around a cutwork pattern on the toes. This is lined with pale pink silk underneath and decorated with glass beads. Above is a pink rosette with gilt buckle decoration. Each slipper is made straight with square toes and flat soles. The edges of each shoe are bound in pink silk ribbon. The inside of each shoe is lined in white kid leather.
