The 43rd National Exhibition of Art, 1997
2nd Prize, Silver Medal Award in Painting
The National Exhibition of Art is the oldest national competition stage of Thailand that has been organized constantly until now. It aims to encourage Thai artists to produce painting, sculpture, prints and multimedia works which present their artistic skills. Gold medal, silver medal and bronze medal award-winning works will become the property of Silpakorn University, who reserves the right to promote works in all channels.
Pairoj Wangbon is an artist who specializes in abstract two-dimensional fine art. He originally used living beings in nature as an inspiration to create semi-abstract art which gradually went into profound abstract with internal movement. His work included texture using scraping and wiping to compose the light to replace where the color was missing: this has become the artist’s signature. Combining imperfect elements together, a perfect harmony was born in line with the rules of nature: nothing is perfect, and everything withers as time goes by. His work truly brought about meaning and essence of life.
