Jiří Kolář was a Czech painter, poet, and writer. His work included both visual art and literature. In his collages he predominantly sought to plant an element of chaos. The starting point of his collages is often a reality that is already irrational, distorted, and deconstructed. Everything seems mixed up together like a concoction gone awry.
In general, the Dada Movement created chaotic and illogical collages, depicting the world that after the Great War that seemed to cling onto the appearance of rationalism but was already destroyed.
