Charles Spencer Chaplin was one of the most famous actors of the silent film era. Born in England, he immigrated to the U.S. in 1914 and began working for Keystone Studios, where he developed his “Tramp” persona. His first feature length film was The Kid (1921), he also starred in The Gold Rush (1925), City Lights (1931) and Modern Times (1936). In addition to acting, Chaplin wrote, directed, produced, and edited his films.
