Erroneously attributed to Salvatore Irdi, this modest and graceful figure is now identified as the work of Francesco Saverio Citarelli, who exhibited the scultpure at the Bourbon Exhibition of 1841. Placed on a mechanical support that rotates, the marble sculpture espresses an innocent purity and childlike beauty, investigated through a studied attention to naturalistic details.
