The fabric of the vestment, shaped like a violin, is poult-de-soie woven through with silver thread. Its back, divided into three length-sections, is just as richly embroidered as its front. To create the carnations and the fantasy flowers they used dyed silk thread. They tried to create a natural look by carefully composing the colour transitions, and the surface is variegated by the flat-stitches completed with knot-stitches. The motifs embroidered with gold thread were laid by leather pieces cut to shape, to make them protrude slightly. The two side-sections of its back are decorated with coloured flowers growing from softly undulating vines. In the mid-section, aside from the peony-like flowers with many petals, we see canopies decorated with blue and gold. These used to be popular decorations in the time of Louis XIV. The cuts and the sides of the chasuble are lined with a gold-coloured rim stripe with zigzag motifs.
