Cheonseryeok

This is a collection of poems and writings by Bak Je-ga (1750-1815/pen-name: Jeongyu). It contains letters he received from Pan Tingjun, a Chinese man of letters, and forewords written by Li Diaoyuan and Chen Shan. His pen-name Jeongyu, which he used in his later years, expressed his wish to retain his integrity despite the turmoil of life. It is said that the pen-name is also associated with a story that King Jeongjo (1776-1800) attached a special name to a pine tree in the garden of Bak’s house. The collection is a precious material for studies of his ideas.
