Tsuruoka, Japan

The Kushibiki area of Tsuruoka is referred to as "Fruit Town". There are cherries in early summer, melons in mid-summer, and grapes in autumn, in addition to apples, Japanese pears, Western pears, and Shonai-persimmons, a special product of the region. This area has more kinds of cultivated fruit than in any other area in Yamagata Prefecture. There are many tourist orchards, in which visitors can take pleasure in picking various fruits from early summer until late autumn.
