The cherry stone carved with 185 human faces and heads was presented by the Imperial Counsellor and "Reichspfennigmeister" and later Lord Chamberlain Christoph von Loß (1545-1609) from Pillnitz near Dresden to Elector Christian I of Saxony as a gift in 1589.
