Comoda Luis XV

This Louis XV chest of drawers, classified as National Heritage because of its richness and origin, is decorated on the top, sides and front with rosewood veneer with curling work and fleurs-de-lys of the same wood contoured by inlaid ivory; on the sides and at the centre there is a vegetal motif tied with a knotted ribbon. The front props and the protruding frame at the bottom, has bronze fittings, as well as every metal fitting. This French piece of furniture which main wood is rosewood is a rich example of the furniture imported by the great Portuguese collectors at the end of the 19th and 20th centuries; the abundance of details and the nobility of the materials, one might emphasize details of the drawers in pauridiantha wood from São Tomé e Príncipe, an evidence of the sumptuousness of this decorative style that remains true to its period.
