Kupyansky vertep, made in the village of Bohodukhiv, Kupyansky district, Kharkiv province, in the estate of the landowner Rosalion-Soshalsky. The chest is quite plain. Nativity scene was minimized, and every-day (secular) scenes comprised most of the show. That’s why the ground floor is moved forward to the audience. For more than 100 years the Kupyansky vertep belonged to the Panasenkos, the family of puppeteers. The last in the lineage, Gavrylo Panasenko, handed the puppet chest to the museum, along with the lyrics and the sheet music.
