Red Earth
Oklahoma City, United States

This full-size Cheyenne cradleboard is constructed with wood and buckskin and adorned with beadwork, bells, tacks, and dentalium shells. The detailed craftsmanship of Cheyenne cradles often includes floral or geometric beading along the hood and frame. These carriers were seen as sacred, with ceremonies blessing both cradle and baby before first use.
