In his post-1980s series of Chi, he used a western pen to run his pen repeatedly on cloth, creating long flowing lines of calligraphy that explained spectacular natural scenes such as the Milky Way. Simple shapes and abstract symbols similar to calligraphy are endowed with full colors, which are full of vitality under Hsiao Chin's pen.
