This piece is a smaller version of the sculpture Sun (Sol) which Pablo Serrano submitted to the Third Biennale Hispano-American Art Exhibition (III Bienal Hispanoamericana de Arte), held in Barcelona in 1955, when representing Uruguay. For this he received the Grand Prize for Sculpture ex aequo with Angel Ferrant. What can already be noted in this work is the introduction of expressionist language in Serrano's sculpting during those years before he returned to Spain in 1955 after over 20 years on the American continent, becoming a famous artist and consolidating this through prizes and institutional commissions.
