When revolution broke out in Paris in 1848, Chopin and many of his acquaintances came to England. Pleyel recommended that Chopin place himself in the hands of John Broadwood & Sons, from whom he chose three pianos; one to be shipped to Scotland, one for his lodgings and this for his public performances in England.
The property of the Royal Academy of Music, on permanent loan to the Cobbe Collection Trust.
