Chopin’s salon in the Square d’Orléans, water-colour executed between autumn 1842 and April 1848 (lost during World War II). Chopin may have commissioned the watercolour when he thought he was leaving Paris for good in April 1848. The piano shown is Pleyel’s ‘Petit Patron’ model favoured by Chopin – the same model as No.13819 which Chopin had in the months before he came to England.
