New York’s Museum of Modern Art commissioned the Moog company to configure this synthesizer for a historic performance of electronic music held at the MOMA in the summer of 1969. It is one of only four such units produced, and used at the concert by a quartet led by jazz composer and musician Chris Swansen. This particular instrument was never used again—though another of the 1CA units was sold to Keith Emerson, who featured the synth on the Emerson, Lake & Palmer song “Lucky Man.”
