Christ on the Cross

Images of the Crucifixion placed more emphasis on the suffering of Christ in the Gothic era. The wounds and blood were specially depicted, the features distorted and the regal crown replaced by the humiliating Crown of Thorns. This Crucifix is bereft of its colour, but you can still see traces of the body having been covered in bloody wounds.
