This is Chap. (1st Lt.) Scott Kovalcik's chaplain kit while assigned to Ground Zero New York. He and his Religious Affairs Specialist, Pfc. Fratzy Pierre Louis, were assigned to 1st Battalion, 101st Cavalry Regiment, New York Army National Guard. Initially dispatched to Battery Park, the Tactical Operations Center, they soon found themselves roving between Morgue Number One, located at One Liberty Plaza, and Morgue Number Two at the AMEX, or the Financial Center, located on the west side of the World Trade Center. On September 13, 2001, they assisted in the evacuation of Morgue One after the building began to shake. It sunk four to six inches and the first floor ceiling collapsed. They escaped with their lives.
