First book printed in South America, produced with the aim of evangelizing the natives in three languages: Spanish, Aymara and Quechua. On its cover it bears the monogram of the name of Jesus Christ, "IHS", which means "Iesus Hominum Sanvator" (Jesus, savior of men).
Its print was authorized by the Provincial Council (Third Limense Council) that was held between 1582 and 1583. The text became the bedside book of the priests who had Indian doctrines under their responsibility. Due to its importance, many later editions were printed.
