After representing the USA in the 1999, the 2003 tournament was another one of Christie Pearce’s five World Cup tournament appearances.
By 2003, Pearce was a more established member of the national team set up and she started two of the US' group games, as well as featuring in the narrow quarter-final win over Norway. but was dropped to the bench ahead of the semi-final in favour of Kyle Bivens.
The US team were comprehensively defeated 3-0 by eventual champions Germany, but Pearce did return to the starting lineup for their 3-1 victory over Canada in the third-place playoff, securing a bronze medal.
Having been part of the 1999 WWC-winning team, Pearce would go on to lift the trophy once more at the age of 39, skippering the US to victory against Japan in 2015.
