Skoklosters, Sweden

This portrait was painted by Wuchters during his stay with Queen Christina in Norrköping in 1661. The abdicated Queen had returned to Sweden to make sure that her privileged position and economic interests were not threatened after the death of Charles X in February 1660. The art loving queen found great joy in the presents of Wuchters and asked the Danish King Frederik III if he could spare his court painter until her return to Rome.
