Christoph Willibald Gluck: Iphigénie en Aulide.

Amongst the literary works of the 'Biblioteca Bipontina' were numerous plays and opera libretti.
Christian IV. started to encourage the performing arts; since 1751 he had been married to a French dancer, the countess of Forbach.
For several months, he hosted the composer and opera reformer Willibald Gluck his palace in Paris. Gluck prepared the premiere of his opera 'Iphigenie in Aulis' which helped him to achieve his musical breakthrough in France.
The printed score is dedicated to King Louis XV. The copy for the Countess of Forbach was signed by Gluck himself.
At Zweibrücken, the construction of a court theater began in 1775 and was completed under Karl August.
Karlsberg Castle also accommodated a small box theater.
