Obraz namalowany został na wąskim, mocno wydłużonym formacie. Malowidło przedstawia dekoracyjnie ułożone chryzantemy. Kwiaty namalowane zostały w różnych kolorach: złote, białe, różowe i czerwone. Artysta bardzo realistycznie oddał poszczególne płatki oraz listki roślin. Tło za kwiatami pozostawiono gładkie w kolorze ugrowym.

  • About the author: Leon Wyczółkowski, (1852 Huta Miastkowska near Garwolin – 1936 Warsaw), An outstanding Young Poland Modernist, representative of the Polish modern art. He studied under guidance of Wojciech Gerson (Drawing School in Warsaw), Jan Matejko (School of Fine Arts in Cracow) and Aleksander Wagner (Academy of Fine Arts in Munich), gaining profound academic education and acquiring realistic craftsmanship. He was one of the members-founders of the Society of Polish Artists “Sztuka” and a professor at the academy in Cracow in 1895–1911, forming there the second generation of Polish Modernists. An outstanding painter and graphic artist, he contributed to the new quality of the Polish Post- Impressionism and Colourism. His artwork underwent different stages of development – from Realism, through Impressionism, Symbolism, Art Nouveau stylisation, up to Synthetism originating from the Japanese graphic arts. He painted still lifes, portraits, nudes, landscapes, interior views, experimenting with form and colour, though the theme was also important to the artist. He was a master of pastel, where he worked out new artistic values.
