The magnificent crib representing the nativity scene and made in 1882 by the artists Bongiovanni Vaccaro and Giacomo Azzolina is also highly remarkable. The artwork is located on the left nave and consists of sixty-two statues made of terra-cotta from Caltagirone. The crib perfectly adapts to the natural setting of the cave where the church of Santa Maria di Betlem is located and the characters wear typical clothes of the late nineteenth century.
