Church of St. Josaphat in Zhovkva is an early Baroque church, which was built in 1653-1655 at the expense of Theophilia Sobieska as a tomb for her son Mark. The church was built on the model of the basilica of the Italian city of Naples. Strict and heavy forms of the building are evidence of defensive architecture. The Dominican monastery was adjacent to the defensive wall of Zhovkva and could be used as a fortification. The temple was painted in the XVII-XVIII centuries, and then again at the beginning of the XX century. But, unfortunately, almost nothing has survived to this day. Now the temple is decorated with restored paintings, which were added during the last restoration.
