Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Christ is a religious building and abode of the Basilian Fathers. One of the most interesting Ukrainian temples, famous for its murals, combining biblical motifs with national-historical ones. In 1903, the church was rebuilt according to the design of Edgar Kovacs, making the church twice as big. The new face of the church became quite eclectic. The most interesting feature of the Church of the Sacred Heart of Christ is the frescoes made by the famous Ukrainian painter Yulian Butsmaniuk. The artist unusually interpreted traditional themes for church murals. In religious frescoes he developed the national theme.
