Cinema is a work by the English artist Paul Noble (Northumberland, United Kingdom, 1963). An accomplished draughtsman, painter and sculptor, Noble is best known for his career-long project, Nobson Newtown, an imaginary dystopian city developed and represented through meticulously drawn graphite works, sculptures and installations. An epic vision of human existence, blending despair, the comic and the sublimely absurd. Chinese scrolls, Japanese sculptures, Fabergé eggs and Bosch are some of the countless influences for the artist in a lifelong exploration that he defines as "urban planning as self-portrait".
