Conjunto Arqueológico de Cástulo

Conjunto Arqueológico de Cástulo
Linares (Jaén), Spain

This urn comes from a casual finding made in the 50s of the twentieth century by making an excavation to extract stone, and was placed in a small masonry structure shaped niche, covered with a slab and with traces of ash. Both by typology and by the context in which this urn was found, the urn correspond to a time where orientalizing acculturation has left its social, economic and cultural imprint, being the germ of the appearance of the Iberian world. So, with the burial ritual, the type of tomb and the cinerario element, we can already speak of a protoiberian phase in this area of Alto Guadalquivir.
