The porcellaneous body is covered with a bluish cast glaze on the outer surface of the body and the lid. The foot is unglazed, as is the inside area where the lid and the body meet. In areas where the glaze ends thin lines of reddish brown are present. The inside of the lid and the inside of the body are also covered with the bluish glaze. The surface of the box is decorated with blue underglaze pigments. Enclosed in a double circle is a somewhat stylized version of the 'crossed thunderbolt' design. Blue bands and foliage designs decorate the rest of the body.
