As an introduction to the Cities Exhibition, this space exhibits the curatorial efforts and decisions that have been made to develop the idea of collective consequences as an interpretation of the main theme, collective city. Cities are understood as an accumulation of multiple layers that result from planned as well as unplanned intentions, which we define as collective consequences. This is why even in a super master planned city, the city we actually live in is much different from what has been drawn on paper. This is the case for the exhibition as well. Having more than eighty cities from around the globe, the Cities Exhibition intends to have an open ended curation, instead of a fully controlled one, so as to create a dialogue and chemistry between individual exhibits without a strict guidance or limitations on their interpretation. Therefore, our intention is for the whole exhibition to be conceived as consequences that are being made by the dialogues between cities rather than as complete singular exhibition of a city. For this, the introductory exhibition provides methods for reading a city as a platform to understand different ways for discussing the contemporary topics that run our cities.
