One of the largest cavalry battles of the U.S. Civil War was fought in Linn County, Kansas on October 25,1864. A team from the Kansas Historical Society excavated the site in 1990. Their work unearthed these three bullets from the battle. From left to right they are: a Sharps .45 caliber, .70 caliber with concave base, and grapeshot.
Like other U.S. states and regions across the globe, Kansans have served and died in war. The Kansas Museum of History aims to remember them through what they left behind. To see more from our collection please visit: https://www.kshs.org/kansapedia/wars/14569
