The control of forest fires, probably more than any other branch of forestry, demands the efficient functioning of all personnel. As in a military operation to which forest fire fighting is closely akin, all levels of personnel must be trained to do their immediate tasks and also must have an appreciative understanding of the duties of those with whom their actions must be coordinated.
This Fire Training Manual was prepared largely in response to numerous requests for training plans and material applicable to CCC foremen and enrollees, and deals both with their duties on the fire front and those which they may be called upon to perform behind the lines.
