Lisbon, Portugal

A city vehicle offered by King Victor Emmanuel II of Italy to his daughter Queen D. Maria Pia wife of King D. Luis I.

The armillary sphere is proof that this carriage was then used by the Presidency of the Republic.

The body of the carriage is painted in black and has five windows. The sober exterior contrasts with its rich interior with furnishings in pearl silk and capitonné.

The driver’s seat has a hand-break.
