The incoronation takes place in the Church of San Petronio in Bologna on the 24th of February 1530, in the presence of dignitaries, cardinals and illustrious prelates. In the bottom left hand corner we see Don Pedro of Toledo, Viceroy of Naples and father of Eleonora of Toledo, future wife of Cosimo I de’ Medici; next to him is Alessandro de’ Medici, who will be nominated Duke by the Emperor himself two years later.
