Looking from Cliff Springs (left) back towards the trailhead. The Cliff Springs Trail is a 1.0 mi. / 1.6 km round-trip; 1 hour approximate round-trip hiking time. The trail meanders down a forested ravine and ends where a chest-high boulder rests under a large overhang. The spring is on the cliff side of the boulder. President Teddy Roosevelt camped here. Please do not drink the water as it may be contaminated. During dry years, the spring will dry up and there will be no water. The Cliff Springs Trail begins directly across the road from a small pullout on a curve 0.3 miles / 0.5 km down the road from Cape Royal. NPS photo by Michael Quinn.
