Belvedere Court is an Art Deco apartment building situated on Maharshi Karve Road along Oval Maidan. Built in 1935-38, it is a part of the first set of building that were errected on the Backbay Reclamation Scheme. It features a unique, frozen fountain motif in its grilles, highlighted here in yellow. Window grilles in cement or metal offered privacy and ventilation, letting in light and air, but keeping out the sun's glare.
This building is a part of 'The Victorian Gothic and Art Deco Ensembles of Mumbai', a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was inscribed to the list on June 30, 2018.
