Min Woo Bang explores the notion of memory, loss, renewal and the passing of time through depictions of landscapes. His fascination with the landscape, and the creation of meaning, sees Bang combine contemporary experiences of the Australian bush with the wealth of history associated with European landscape paintings. Bang’s final paintings are a result of much study, skill and research. Min Woo Bang is an award winning artist who migrated to Australia in the early 1990s from South Korea. Bang began his studies while still living in Seoul and then continued his education in Australia at the National Art School in 1993 before graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Art (Hon) and Master of Visual Art, from Sydney College of the Arts in 1999. Bang has developed a strong art practice with regular solo exhibitions and has had works included in numerous group shows since the early 1990s. This painting received the 2016 Winner of Commendation Award in the Mosman Art Prize.
