CLUTCH

This clutch is made from two woven fabrics; the exterior features a dragon and cloud design, the interior sea imagery. The fabric is typical of that used for the Japanese kesa, the holy robe worn by Buddhist monks. The origin of this clutch is unknown but it is in the style of those sold by the London department store Liberty, which imported furnishings and other dress artefacts from Asia during the 1920s.
