Nueseop, or cocoon bed, is a bed used for silkworms to spin a cocoon, and is also referred to as nuebal, mabusi, rearing bed or huijeonseop. A cocoon bed was generally made with straws, bush clovers or rush, and each line could be folded. In other words, since each cell can be folded in a three-dimensional V shape, silkworms can occupy a suitable position to spin their cocoons in each cell. In the present day, there are ready-made cocoon beds using paper or plastic instead of straws or bush clovers, but the traditional type made with straws are elaborately weaved and more beautiful. The shape of a cocoon bed varies, including a hexagon consisting of six triangles, or a large rectangle partitioned into various smaller cells. Some cocoon beds are designed to be folded for storage and to better form a three-dimensional shape.
