Verona, Italy

Cocò was the beloved parrot that Filippo de Pisis used to carry on his shoulder during his walks around Venice and depicted in drawings and paintings. The artist had his friends painters decorate eight-handed the travel box: Arturo Tosi painted a still life on the lid, Giorgio de Chirico adorned the opening door with the hole for ventilation with a white horse in a seascape, Massimo Campigli has outlined elegant female figures on a beach on the left side, de Pisis himself painted the right side with an evocative still life. The authors' signatures are placed on the side decorated by them, while the back side collects signatures and dedications of artists, acquaintances and friends. In 1980 Bona de Pisis, nephew of the artist, donated the cage to Licisco Magagnato, the then director of the civic museums of Verona.
