Croton (Codiaeum variegatum (L.) Blume. This is a chromolithograph by P. Depannemaeker after a botanical illustration by the Dutch botanical artists Berthe Hoola van Nooten. It features in the book 'Fleurs, fruits et feuillages choisis de l'ille de Java: peints d'après nature' originally published in 1880. Bertha Hoola van Nooten is listed as having her ‘Drawings of Javanese Fruits and Flowers’ being exhibited on her behalf by colonial administrator Arthur Grote (1814-1886) at the 24th April 1869 Royal Society conversazione.
