This whole skeleton of Coelodonta was recovered from the West Ural, Russia. Like the woolly mammoth, Coelodonta had shaggy coat and lived in the harsh conditions of the tundra and steppe in the glacier area of the Northern Hemisphere. Coelodonta had a pair of huge horns in its snout, the front one growing to lengths of over 1 m in old males.
