Water is heated at the bottom of the electric percolator, and the resulting pressure causes the hot water to rise to the outlet at the top, above the coffee filter. Then the coffee drips out of the bottom of the filter into the jug and the coffee can be poured. This electric percolator has three Bakelite legs and two Bakelite handles. The lid is made of glass.
