This coin hoard was buried in a stoneware jar on a farm during a time of war. The 159 silver coins had been minted within a twenty-year period between 1365 and 1379. The mint marks include Hamburg, Kiel, Lüneburg and Lübeck, but are mainly from Rostock, Stralsund and Wismar. Some coins originated from Sweden. Altogether, the Luhdorf find is an unusually homogenous hoard which, however, did not represent a large fortune at the time.
