Ardengo Soffici (1879-1964) leaves school early to study painting liberally. From 1903 to 1907 he resided in Paris, returning to Italy he was among the main contributors to the magazine "Voce" and with Giovanni Papini founded "Lacerba." As an art critic, he supports the major figures of French Impressionism and Post-Impressionism and becomes a promoter of avant-garde experiences from Futurism to Cubism. His work "Collage" of 1914, uses a technique highly valued by various components of the early 20th-century Italian avant-garde, including Gino Severini, Umberto Boccioni, and Carlo Carrà.
