Hemiptera collection of the Frenchman Pierre André Latreille (1762-1833), the most important entomologist of his time, who was professor of entomology at the Museum of Natural History of Paris and founder of the French Entomological Society. The Spanish entomologist Eduardo Carreño (1819-1842) bought his collection in 1841 in Paris, estimated at more than 4.000 species, more than half of them without description and containing some types described by Latreille. In 1842, after the premature death of Carreño, the collection entered the MNCN.
