Donato Creti's 18 paintings for Marco Antonio Collina Sbaraglia, sole heir to the renowned physician of the Studium Giovanni Girolamo, are a rare, perhaps unique, example of completeness and integrity. Donated by the owner to the Senate of Bologna in 1744, they are now on display at the Collezioni Comunali d'Arte. The paintings document the painter's high quality and his constant and obsessive search for an ideal beauty and an unattainable formal perfection.
