For as long as earthlings have observed celestial bodies, they have imagined what forms life on other planets might be like. The aliens earthlings imagine reveal more about us than they accurately depict other worldly beings. Our aliens, by turns, represent humanoid figures much like us, little green men, monsters, reptiles, large insects and dinosaur-like beings, robotic creatures, and all manner of "foreigners" and aboriginal peoples. The aliens we make up suggest our own struggles with personal and cultural identity. The aliens Stig Isakson created for his Space Spooks Coloring Book seem more reptilian than anything else, and almost all of them feature devil-like like horns on their heads. One might speculate that Isakson intended to mix his celestial beings with a bit of the horror and monsters that so fascinates preteen children.
